Feel Good Music 2nd Entry

Growing up, my brother and I would work hard on the weekends so we could buy the things that we wanted. More then half the time we would use our hard earned money to buy music. I can remember buying tape after tape to add to the our collection, just two little music junkies looking for that next hot joint.

Records or tapes from the local music stores was the source for new music. No such thing as downloading or bootleggers. Well you could put that piece of tissue in the holes on that tape and get your dubbing on but that's another story.

We used the radio and music video channels to find those hits. My brother and I always had a formula to getting our music fix. We would buy music from a known artist and music from a not so well known artist. I think this is the reason we both share that ear for the underground to this very day.

Knowing that we were going to have to sneak time on my dad's fancy high powered stereo system, we would do the majority of our listening after school. We rushed home from the bus, pulled out the vinyl and tapes and listen for a few minutes always making sure to put everything back like it was to avoid any repercussions from using the good stereo.

Certain songs bring certain memories. The soundtrack to my childhood is filled with legendary bands, classic verses, sound effects and beats. I love hearing music that spans my life's time line, it gives me a chance to reminisce.

Seems like every classic tunes has a memory attached. I cherish those memories. Family, friends, good times and a chance to soak up real music was all we needed.

Here another seed from the past. Another song that brings back happy memories and lifts my spirits every time I hear it. Like food for the soul...
